It was great today when SIMPLE PLAN made a nice little stop by LA SALLE today, having an intimate concert with only about 80 fans, for free. Being a student I was happy to be in school for a meeting and just on time to see them perform. I was happy, because I sort of like their songs. Simple, and fun.
Then turns out, my housemate who is a manager at Mandarin Hotel, was actually looking after them while they stayed in Singapore. He ate with them and got to meet them personally. How nice!
Anyway, doesn't matter :)

This post is mainly for my Singaporean college-mates, who every so often ask me what studying music at UCSI was like. My answer is usually...... "well, it is different, better, but different." And you interpret it however you want to :)
So here are some videos of the stuff that's happening over at UCSI... And be patient, they are worth watching.
The famous Grieg Concerto being performed at one of the semester concerts
Green Tea - The Musical... that was a great year. Students from the School of Music composed, arranged, directed, choreographed, produced, and well, did everything for the entire musical.
This next one isn't very clear, but it is good enough. They are performing Carmina Burana, by th UCSI Choir, Orchestra, and Modern Band.
Sweet Child o' Mine...
The UCSI Chamber Choir, that was a big part of my early college life in UCSI.
Song from Miss Saigon.
UCSI's own STOMP!
So that was a glimpse of what's happening on the other side of the ocean. Enjoy!

2007 was a good year. Well, it has not ended yet, but very soon it will be over. 2008 will come sneaking upon us like a tarantula hiding in your left shoe. And before you know it, 2009 will be around the corner. Time flies too fast.
2007 was a good year because of all the great movies we got to see. Here's what I think of some of the movies that made 2007 memorable.
Now what would 2007 have been if we did not get to watch robots talk, dance, play hide and seek, and try to be funny? This long awaited movie made everyone satisfied, OK almost everyone. It was one of the longest running movies in Malaysia. I wouldn't be surprised if they are still showing it in some cinemas. I watched it at IMAX, for only RM10. Big screen for big robots, with a small price.
Whoever missed this movie lost out on about 2,000 laughters in their life compared to those that did watch it. This movie was brilliant. I enjoyed it from the very beginning (ta ta ta taaaaaaaaAAAAaaaaaaaAAAaaaAAA) to the end (sequel?).
This wasn't THE greatest movie, but it was great. I enjoyed every sweet moment of this movie. It was entertaining, inspiring, full of humour, and simply cute.
This year also saw the final movie of the Pirates trilogy. Not sure how final it is, rumour has it that there could be a 4th? No idea. Don't care, because we were already satisfied watching the last movie. It gave a good ending to the whole trilogy. The first and third of the Pirates movies were my favourite. The second one, was so-so.
Hairspray was a fun movie to watch. Not everyone liked it. I enjoyed it, every single strand of it. The music was fun, the singing was good, the acting was enjoyable.
Now this movie wasn't shown in Malaysia. It was shown in Singapore. I happen to be a fan of the first 3 SAW movies. Horror to the fullest. I did not expect a fourth movie to come out but I guess it was just too good to end it like that. It isn't a very popular movie, but if you are a fan of horror, not the ghostly supernatural horror, but the gruesome horror, this one is for you.
And apart from these movies, there were of course other movies that made 2007 such a great year... Enchanted is not to be missed..... Harry Potter made magic happen again..... The Bourne Ultimatum was exciting and full of action.... 300 was also unusually exciting and action-packed as well.... Ratatouille made us hungry.... Spiderman 3 spun some webs....
And 2008 will be an even greater year.... Repo! The Genetic Opera will come spooking you, not because of the music and blood, but because Paris Hilton is in it. Smurfs will finally be on the big silver screen. Cloverfield by J.J. Abrams will certainly be a movie worth watching.
Anyway.... is it just me or does it look like the fantasy genre is becoming more and more popular? Not that I have anything against it. In fact, I enjoy fantasy movies the most..... I loved The Seeker. I also think The Golden Compass will be a good movie too. Stardust was terrific and beautifully done. Next year, the second Narnia movie will be showing. And I think we all can't wait.

An oxymoron is a figure of speech that combines two normally contradictory terms.
I first learned about oxymorons many many years ago, at the very least15 years ago. I discovered oxymorons from a movie which starred Danny Devito, who went to this army camp to teach the soldiers how to speak and write English properly. I can't remember the title of this movie. If you do, leave a comment ;-)
So I have fallen in love with this wonderful figure of speech, combining two contradicting words together to "kind of" make sense.
Your handwriting's pretty ugly. - so, is it pretty, or is it ugly? Still makes sense nonetheless.
Here are your original copies.
So you see, oxymorons are what you could say, simply complicated ways of trying to make a point.
I have found some very interesting oxymorons, for your amusement.
